Schilke P5-4 Rebuild

Schilke
P5-4 Piccolo Trumpet

This amazing Piccolo took pretty hard fall.  The leadpipe was bent and broken off, Bell was bent out of position.

The best plan was to remove Leadpipe and the Bell.  This will allow proper reshaping  and repositioning the bent parts and braces.  Basically breakdown and rebuilding the entire trumpets will bring this trumpet back to the amazing playability as it was originally designed.

Mock up setting was repeatedly checked to find the proper shape, fitting and alignment. This will be crucial for the optimum sound and playability.

Bell stem has been straightened, Bell flare reshaped hand buffed and polished.  Remounted and soldered back into place.
The leadpipe was de-dented, reshaped, remounted then soldered back into place.  The placement of the mouthpipe receiver is a vital part of this type of Piccolo’s characteristic sound.
