Mt. Vernon C Trumpet - Malone Chicago Gen.2 Conversion

Andy Lott
Shipped a few CTrumpets for analysis and modifications.

Design and develop improvement modification plan.

This trumpet was in need of Bob Malone replacement Leadpipe and matching Tuning slide.

Notice the different Bell taper. Both Bach C Trumpets on the right is Mt. Vernon and on Left Bach 229L.  But, the Mt. Vernon has been Converted into a Malone.Chicago Gen.2  Leadpipe and Main tuning slide.

Next Andy wanted to have a custom receiver for even a more unique sound.  Converting a Mt. Vernon Trumpet is always a challenge.  Each one I have encountered in the past 25 years has been very unique.

Finding the sweet spot is very challenging.  The proper Gap - Setting - Brace points are when the horn livens up.  The sound will open up, Resonance, and overall ease of playability.

Mounting has its own techniques that work best for me.  Ultimately, making very precise internal-external cuts create very balanced relaxed tone.

Body alignment - Brace Position - Receiver size and weight will compliment the overall Playabilty.

Inside outside Malone tuning slide converted to fit the Bach Mt. Vernon design.
World class designs meet Classic Vintage Mt. Vernon Sound.
