Mouthpiece Repair


This mouthpiece has lost its plating and will need to be re-plated.  The existing plating will be stripped then machined to repair and smooth rim damage.  

Many measurements are taken to ensure the least amount of change will be encountered.  Granted as they are damaged, is the initial change.  
My goal is to alter as little as possible, in order to save the mouthpiece to the best of my ability.  

Slight rim damage will require resurfacing.  Careful attention to detail will be needed to maintain existing rim contour.











Precise Buffing and Polishing preparation will be performed prior to plating.

Other custom mouthpiece designs prepped for Silver and or Gold Plating.

Schilke E3L-4 Bell Conversion Working with Trumpeter David Martinez.  This project involved converting this incredible 4 Valve Eb Trumpet to receive Bach 239 C-Trumpet Bell and play in D (Uhhhmmm...)  What can I say, Trumpeters... we are an awesome breed. Mt. Vernon C Trumpet - Malone Chicago Gen.2 Conversion

Andy Lott Shipped a few CTrumpets for analysis and modifications.    Design and develop improvement modification plan. This trumpet was in need of Bob Malone replacement Leadpipe and matching Tuning slide. Notice the different Bell taper. Both Bach C Trumpets on the right is Mt. Vernon and on Left Bach 229L.  But, the Mt. Vernon has been Converted into a Malone.Chicago Gen.2  Leadpipe and Main tuning slide. Next Andy wanted to have a custom receiver for even a more unique sound.  Converting a Mt. Vernon Trumpet is always a challenge.  Each one I have encountered in the past 25 years has been very unique.   Finding the sweet spot is very challenging.  The proper Gap - Setting - Brace points are when the horn livens up.  The sound will open up, Resonance, and overall ease of playability. Mounting has its own techniques that work best for me.  Ultimately, making very precise internal-external cuts create very balanced relaxed tone.   Body
