Scherzer Rotary Piccolo Trumpet This job involves rotor fitting and adjustment of the overall playability.  The rotors were very stiff and slower than the players expectations.   Most of the literature this performer will be using this trumpet for will obviously require very quick and responsive rotor action.  Like most new Instruments the break in period can be very tedious and many times frustrating time for the performers.   After thorough inspection we established a plan to remove rotors, check fitting, inspect rotor casings, rotors, braces for any burs and or solder imperfections.  Due to the delicate nature of most smaller trumpets some stress-tension spots were found. This may cause the responsiveness and resonance to be less than what the performer prefers.  This tends to be crucial for Piccolo literature requirements The next step is alterations of the leadpipe. Bach Stradivarius  180-37 Bb Trumpet  This Trumpet was in incredible condition cosmetically, but was found to be very difficult to play.   Custom medium weight receiver in progress. Searching for the playing properties each player has requested. Installing Custom medium weight receiver was built to accomplish the playability this player has requested.  Precision cutting s and tapers are done as well as numerous play tests where required to determine the best weight to enhance the trumpets Testing the playing position of the receiver is done to find the best feeling and most responsive placement.  Final positioning and brace placement is found then soldered in, and play tested once again.  Many playing sessions are performed to ensure only the finest playability of each Trumpet. Schilke P5-4 Rebuild

Schilke   P5-4 Piccolo Trumpet  This amazing Piccolo took pretty hard fall.  The leadpipe was bent and broken off, Bell was bent out of position. The best plan was to remove Leadpipe and the Bell.  This will allow proper reshaping  and repositioning the bent parts and braces.  Basically breakdown and rebuilding the entire trumpets will bring this trumpet back to the amazing playability as it was originally designed. Mock up setting was repeatedly checked to find the proper shape, fitting and alignment. This will be crucial for the optimum sound and playability.  Bell stem has been straightened, Bell flare reshaped hand buffed and polished.  Remounted and soldered back into place. The leadpipe was de-dented, reshaped, remounted then soldered back into place.  The placement of the mouthpipe receiver is a vital part of this type of Piccolo’s characteristic sound.
